Life Changes: Haircuts

You know the saying that "when a girl changes her hair, she is about to make big changes to her life" or something like that. Well thats what I did this weekend. Though, its not like I made some drastic hair style change. I actually got my hair cut back to the length I usually have it. But that is the weird thing. I didn't realize how much I didn't feel like myself with the longer hair.
So my hair, usually, is around shoulder length (maybe a bit longer) with some choppiness to it and a little bit shorter in the back than in the front. Whenever I go get my haircut I bring these pictures as reference.

These pictures were obtained from my pinterest board about hair styles.
This messy/shorter hairstyle just is so easy for me. I can do a quick style in the morning when I am doing my make up and it still looks like I tried. Here is what the final cut looked like:

I never realized how much a haircut could me you feel like yourself again. With the longer hair, I would avoid styling it because of time and just put it up in a bun. But now I have the time (because it really doesn't take much time) to style it. With this hair, I feel more like myself. Which is absolutely strange to me. I didn't realize how much I didn't feel like myself until it was cut.
It was a strange lesson to learn, but maybe this will encourage to get it cut on a more regular schedule, since I tend to wait 6 months in between (oops!).
Has anyone else had this strange realization?
