Product Review: Essie Gell Couture Polishes

If you are anything like you, you paint your fingernails randomly but not often enough just because you are really hard on your hands. I've used so many different brands of nail polish and still seem to have a problem with not chipping them or messing them up somehow. But I feel extra girly when I paint my nails.

So when I was in target the other day I decided to try out the new gel couture collection from Essie. I've noticed that gel nail polish does tend to stay better than regular but even the gel nail polish I've tried in the past has not lasted very long.

The color I picked up from the display was #138 Pre-Show Jitters. It looks like a pale/white pink (my favorite color for my fingernails). I didn't see a top coat on the display so I assumed I didn't need one.

First issue, is that the color was more white than I thought. That had nothing to do with Essie but more as my mistake. Also apparently you do need a top coat. Should have assumed that. So it chipped pretty quickly.

But the formula and the texture was BRILLIANT. It went on so easy and smooth and opaque. I was extremely impressed by it.

So I went back to target and both a top coat from the collection and a new color #40 Fairy Tailor. This color turned out to be the perfect color and the top coat has made them last so much longer. Usually by now (day 2) I would have had so many chips. But as of right now (fingers crossed) they still look beautiful (please disregard the cuticle disaster going on in the pic).

I would definitely recommend these new nail polish range from Essie. They go on so smooth and they are so easy to apply. The price runs are $12 but you can probably go to Bed Bath and Beyond or Ulta and use a coupon to get it even cheaper. But lets be honest, thats not too expensive in the first place. I believe that I will not use this nail polish for my fingernails. I cannot wait to try some new colors, maybe even colors not in the nude collection.

Since it is Essie, there are plenty of colors to choose from. I am thinking of purchasing First View or Style in Excess. They seem like pretty epic colors.

If you have tried these colors please let me know!
